Casino games use different things to generate random aspects in the game. Roulette uses a ball and wheel, and Blackjack and many other games use decks of cards, while Big Wheels are popular too.
Some games use dice, and many dice aficionados prefer their randomness – and luck – to come from rolls of the dice.
What are live casino dice games in the first place?
Well, there are two components to this type of game. One is it’s played with actual physical dice, and the other is that you have a live human dealer who’s either throwing the dice or presenting the show and triggering the dice-rolling machine. You watch this action unfold on the screen of your desktop or mobile device and can place bets via the on-screen console.
The most well-known game with dice is craps, an ancient game that traces its roots to the old European game of hazard mentioned in the 14th century and may even date back to the Crusades.
Servicemen played craps in two World Wars, and after 1960 the casinos started offering the game on all continents. After 2004, online casinos took over and spread the game globally.
Craps is an elaborate game that offers many different bets and takes a bit of learning. Playing craps is a skill, and if you’re playing at a land-based casino, it also becomes a social event.
Most Craps players can’t even imagine playing the game without the other players and the cheering. Most live dealer studios cannot create a good game of live craps because they lack the social element of the game, which can’t be recreated in a studio.
The only studios that dare to venture into craps are Evolution and Vivo, with their respective Live Craps games. These are played by players who want to learn about the game of craps or by those who really love craps but can’t play it in a land-based setting as often as they would like.
Interestingly, Live Craps is one of the games. Evolution is pushing on the newly opened US market, indicating significant demand for this game.
If you want to try live craps, read my Evolution Live Craps review first and visit a casino with the game, such as LeoVegas. If you want both the Evolution and Vivo games, visit Vbet.
Interestingly, almost everyone who attempts to create this list for you misses the best live casino dice game. The reason is the dice are used only during the bonus round.
Monopoly Live uses a money wheel to play the game, but when you trigger the bonus round, you enter a 3D Monopoly board and roll two dice to move around the board!
Is there a better and more thrilling experience with dice in an online casino? Unlikely.
You can play the game at LeoVegas and PlayOJO online casinos.
Please read my review of Monopoly Live here. I also included a strategy guide.
Boom City Live is a Pragmatic Play game that uses dice exclusively to drive the game forward.
There is a 6×6 grid with 36 squares that contain prizes, bonuses and power-ups.
Even during the bonus rounds, which are called Lucky Drop and Boom or Bust, the presenter will roll a pair of dice to determine the outcome.
That makes Boom City Live a dice game through and through, and arguably the best game of its kind – an entertainment show with dice.
Please read my review of Boom City Live or visit BetVictor to play the game.
Live Lightning Dice is an Evolution game that uses three dice and has win multipliers.
It’s a relatively simple game that gets under your skin, especially because there’s potential to win big, and there is a good Live Lightning Dice strategy.
You’ll find the game in most Evolution casinos, including Unibet or PlayOJO.
Football Studio Dice is a version of Evolution’s card game Football Studio, which uses dice instead.
In practice, it plays out like an even-money bet on roulette but with a slightly better RTP, 97.75%, compared to 97.30% of European roulette.
You place your bet on Home, Draw or Away, with the Draw having a 4% chance of happening.
High rollers, Baccarat players and roulette even-money players will love this game.
It’s available at Evolution casinos such as BetVictor.
Sic Bo is one of the most popular dice games, and for many people, it’s synonymous with betting on the outcome of a dice roll. This is a game that originated in China.
Things got very interesting when live casino game developers upgraded this ancient game to make it more fun.
They did so by adding win multipliers. Super Sic Bo & Lightning Sic Bo by Evolution, Sic Bo Deluxe by Playtech, Mega Sic Bo by Pragmatic Play and Ultimate Sic Bo by Ezugi all have win multipliers.
Purists can still play the traditional games as Playtech and XPG offer them, but these win multiplier games, paired with the live presenter and actual dice, offer the most excitement.
As you’ll see in my list of dice games below, Sic Bo is the most represented game, partially because it’s relatively easy for the developers to design and partially because it’s popular among players.
Bac Bo Live is an Evolution game that’s supposed to be a hybrid between Sic Bo and Baccarat, though I see more similarities to Dragon Tiger than to Baccarat myself.
This is a decent game you should try out if you’re a fan of dice games and are looking for something similar to Baccarat.
You may do so at BetVictor after you read my Bac Bo review and strategy guide.
Betgames offers Dice Duel.
Without going into too much detail, this is a relatively simple game where you bet on the outcome of a dice roll.
You’ll find this game at Hollywoodbets and VBET.
Pragmatic Mega Sic Bac is a hybrid of Baccarat and Dragon Tiger that uses dice instead of cards to determine the winner between the Player and Banker positions.
Each position has two dice rolled to find the position with the higher total. Ties result in a loss unless you’ve bet on the position.
21 Side bets will tempt you to bet on Doubles, Triples and Quads, and the multipliers can boost payouts up to 5000:1 on a Triple.
You’ll find this game at Leo Vegas.

You might wonder what the theoretical return to player (RTP) of live casino dice games is and if any stand out positively or negatively.
First of all, Monopoly Live, Boom City Live and Lightning Dice, the three entertainment shows that use dice, have an RTP of around 96% at best.
These are fun games, not games you’ll play because the casino has a low house edge – because it doesn’t. You can win big in all three games.
Craps is a complex game where each bet has its house edge, but in the end, you can get up to 99.17% RTP in Evolution Live Craps with an ‘optimal strategy’.
Sic Bo is a game where each bet has its own RTP, but the differences are drastic here. It can be as low as 87.50% for two worst Totals bets and 97.22% for Small/Big and Odd/Even bets. A triple bet can even have a house edge of up to 30%.
Bac Bo is the unlikely winner regarding RTP, as this game of ‘Baccarat with dice’ has an RTP of 98.87%. That’s slightly less than Baccarat but more than all other dice games listed here.
For those who want to know more, we’ll delve a bit into the math world to answer why some gamblers prefer dice to any other form of a random event.
Dice rolls have a perfect normal distribution, also known as the bell curve.
Many gamblers think dice – and actual physical dice, for that matter – are the perfect generator of random events on which we may place bets.
Cards, on the other hand, rely heavily on which cards remain in the deck, which can be exploited using card-counting attempts.
Roulette is wildly unpredictable compared to a dice roll and can lead to long winning and losing streaks. Money wheels are essentially a variation of the roulette wheel.
Compared to roulette in particular, Dice seem, tamer, as if you can make sense of them. A bet on over/under totals on a pair of dice isn’t reliant on one event (as is the case with roulette) but on two events with six different outcomes. This is why it not only appears less unpredictable than a roulette spin, but it is – totals of 7 are the most common, while totals of 2 and 12 are the least common.
Now that’s something you can make sense of, and then decide to bet on either the more likely or the less likely outcome.
Craps and Sic Bo are the only games that use dice in a traditional casino. In live dealer online casinos, other games, such as Monopoly Live or Lightning Dice, use dice.
If we’re talking about live dealer online casino dice games, most players play the traditional game of Sic Bo. Entertainment shows such as Monopoly Live and Boom City Live are also very popular, while Lightning Dice takes your usual dice game and puts it on a new level through win multipliers.
Dice in live dealer casino games are fair because they’re independently audited for fairness. This is arguably the best way to gamble on dice rolls, as you’re guaranteed the dice are fair.
Dice is luck, as it’s a perfectly random event with a bell curve distribution in the case of two dice. However, placing bets on the outcomes of dice rolls takes a bit of skill when it comes to math, as then you’ll be able to make better bets that use the probabilities and the game rules to your advantage.
