Grand Bonus Baccarat Game Review, Strategy and How to Play

Introduction To Grand Bonus Baccarat

Grand Bonus Baccarat is a new variation of Baccarat created by live casino provider Iconic-21.

The underlying game is Baccarat, and a compulsory fee of 20% of your main bet funds a personalised Progressive Jackpot that can reach 500x.

The progressive jackpot is triggered at two points: the Mega for four successive wins and the Grand for five consecutive wins. The jackpots are topped up with multipliers as you win hands and are reset to a starting value once you lose a hand. As you win more consecutive hands, the jackpot gets topped up again with multipliers.

This is a different way of presenting a side bet/bonus feature that tests your capability for getting consecutive wins, and as you know, in Baccarat, that’s the key to playing this game.

In this review, I’ll explain how to play Grand Bonus Baccarat and demonstrate a few game rounds in my Video review. I’ll also cover betting strategies to see if anything helps you be more successful.

How To Play Grand Bonus Baccarat

Grand Bonus Baccarat follows the same rules as Baccarat, where a commission is taken on Banker wins. There is no No Commission version.

Baccarat is a card game with two playing positions: Banker and Player. There’s a third betting position, Tie, which has the highest payout.

The objective is to bet on the hand you think will win with a hand value closest to or equal to Nine.

Each hand gets two cards, and a third card is given depending on the Third Card Rule.

There’s a load of tradition attached to Baccarat, which makes it a fun game, especially as you try to unravel the mysteries of the Roadmaps in the hunt for what the next winning hand may be!

I’d encourage you to read the How to Play Baccarat article, as it contains loads of helpful information. I’ve only scratched the surface with this brief summary.

There is a difference, though, in Grand Bonus Baccarat each player has their own Progressive Jackpot, which pays when you get four or five consecutive wins. This is the Bonus part of the game, which I’ll explain in greater detail below as I step through each phase of the game.

How the Grand Bonus Works

It’s probably best to start by explaining how the Grand Bonus works.

First, If you’re making a bet on the Banker or Player position, a 20% Fee of your bet amount is taken to fund the Progressive jackpots. If you bet on Tie, there is no fee.

There are two Jackpots:

  1. The Mega Jackpot pays when you get four consecutive wins.
  2. The Grand Jackpot pays when you get five successive wins.

How the Jackpots are Funded

Each time you place a bet, a multiplier is generated and applied to the fee you’ve paid.

17% of the value goes into the Mega Jackpot and 100% to the Grand Jackpot. These amounts get locked in when you win the hand. If you lose, the counter resets to zero.

More multipliers get added each time you win a hand. The values have a predetermined range.

  • 1st Round – 20x to 500x
  • 2nd Round – 12x to 100x
  • 3rd Round – 5x to 50x
  • 4th Round – 3x to 30x
  • 5th Round – 1.5x to 10x

If the hand result is a tie the multiplier and money from the jackpot are removed before being replaced, ready for the next hand. This is done because if you change the bet amount, the amount going into the jackpot will differ.

You can win only one of the Jackpots. If you get to Grand, you’ll get the payout for the Grand, not the Mega and Grand.

Your progress of consecutive wins is stored on the game server, so you can leave the game and come back another time, and your progress will be where you left it. After 30 days, it’s reset to zero.

Betting Time

During the 15 seconds of betting time, you can bet on Player or Banker and Tie. Only the Banker and Player bets have a 20% Fee.

There are no additional side bets.

Bet Confirmed and Multiplier Assigned

Once betting time has closed, a multiplier is assigned.

In the example below, you can see that I’ve reached the grand stage with four consecutive wins so far.

I’ve got a 1.5x multiplier, which increased the Jackpot to €44.50!

The Result

grand bonus baccarat result

The dealer deals the cards to the Banker and Player positions, observing the Third card rule.

The results in this example are a player win, which gives me five wins in a row, and the Grand Jackpot!

I win the Grand Jackpot of €44.50 and €10 for the Player win, totalling €54.50!

Strategy

Grand Bonus Baccarat comes with five Baccarat Roads, which record the results for the current dealing show. The roadmaps can also help you predict what might happen in the future, although it’s a guess using some pre-defined formulas. They don’t tell you what to do with the information. That is for you to decide.

The roads cover the Results – Bead Road and Big Road. The other three road maps are derived from the Big Road and are known as the Big Eye Road, Small Road and Cockroach Pig.

The roads are displayed in the playing interface and can be zoomed in for a better look by clicking or touching the screen, depending on your device type.

Strategy Betting on Grand Bonus Baccarat

I’ve covered my betting strategy for Baccarat in detail in another article, so I’ll summarise what I’ve already covered.

The first thing to say is that the strategy just presents a way of playing, enabling you to enjoy the game more and make your bankroll last longer.

It does not guarantee you’ll win. No strategy can. But you have fun trying!

The objective is to predict which hand will win next. You have an almost 50% chance of getting it right, and what we want in Grand Bonus Baccarat is to get it right five times in a row—a feat that is certainly achievable, given a bit of luck.

I like to bet on following trends. I tend to think that you’ll get maybe two or three wins on one position, and if I do, I switch positions. This is a modified strategy from the one I normally use, which is to double my bet when I lose and switch to the opposite hand.

So, have a look at Bead Road and see what the results have been. If there is a row of three the same, I start betting on the opposite position. If it’s choppy, I follow what’s happened in the past. Then, I just follow my gut. It’s as simple as that. Sometimes, you just get a feeling, and I go with that!

Return To Player (RTP) – Expected Returns

The RTP for the Player position is 96.76%. The Banker has an RTP of 96.94%.

The Tie bet RTP is 85.64%.

The Banker pays 0.95:1, Player 1:1 and Tie 8:1.

Player and Banker bets get returned if the result is a Tie.

How Grand Bonus Baccarat Compares

Grand Bonus Baccarat follows the theme of Baccarat games with Multipliers. We already have Lightning Baccarat, Golden Wealth, Peek and Prosperity Tree Baccarat from Evolution, Mega Baccarat from Pragmatic and Quantum Baccarat from Playtech. All of these give multipliers of different ranges with a 20% fee.

The main difference is the RTPs, with Grand’s lowest at 96.74% against an average of  98.80%.

Playing-wise, the Progressive jackpots are harder to get than the multiplier wins on the other games. They seem to be more frequent but are generally smaller. The maximum multiplier possible is bigger on some games, but the likelihood of hitting that is very, very slim.

On balance, Grand Bonus Baccarat probably sits in the middle of the existing games and uses a different mechanic for delivering bigger wins!

Summary

It is refreshing to see a different take on how multipliers are applied in a game. It does not impact how you play to get them. If anything, it concentrates your mind when you’re making your betting decisions, as one wrong move can cost you what you’ve built during the previous winning hands.

Guile and luck play their part in this game.

I didn’t quite know what to make of the Progressive nature of the multipliers, but once I’d decided to treat them as a side bet, I got more relaxed when I lost. The main game still pays when you win, so it’s only progress along the path that you lose for the 20% fee.

Reaching the jackpots is a challenge; 4 wins for the rather mean-paying Mega Jackpot is an ask, and five wins for the Grand makes you feel great when you win.

The mechanic allows you to raise and lower your bets during the game rounds so you can manage your exposure when you’re near the jackpot. No wonder the latter multipliers reduce size as you get closer to winning. You might consider adopting a strategy of big early bets when the multipliers are bigger and lower them as you near the final payout.

However you choose to play, I think you’ll have fun trying to beat the game.
